1969 Member of the first Canterbury First Grade Team was one of the founding players of Canterbury after playing with Waratah – which Canterbury was formed from. So his playing career spans all 41 years with the club, and then some
1970s Member of the first Canterbury First Grade Team, then spent ten years on the mainland
1980 Returned from NSW and played in the Canterbury SHA (Hockey South) 2nd grade premiership team He coached A Grade Womens Indoor Team included future wife Lee, Cecil and Claire Pearce

State Premiers won about 5 state championships on a trot in the mid eighties to early nineties

1981 – 1986 Indoor A grade mens Coach with Barry Collins that won 5 ANNUAL premierships in a row. Barry coached the first three years and Eric coached the last two.
It has been observed that Erics contribution to indoor hockey generated so much momentum and success for both the Canterbury mens and women teams that Canterburys dominance effectively killed the competition.
1986 Played 2nd Grade

Canterbury fielded two indoor teams but lost to University. The indoor competition in the south was discontinued with the opening of the THC

1989 Played 2nd Grade
1993 Vets Premiership and Captain.
“Believes he must lead from the front by scoring nearly 30 goals. Must do more next year to hold his place. Missed trapped the ball twice this season.”
