Welcome back to Canterbury for Junior Hockey in 2017.
We’ve been busy behind the scenes planning for the upcoming season, and we hope to see you soon in your red and blue!
We are planning our junior teams at the moment, and would appreciate if you could let us know if your child is going to play.
Please let us know by registering with Hockey Tas or email ( email@example.com ) or by attending our Registration Day on Thursday 23rd of February.
Canterbury will be holding a Junior Registration BBQ on Thursday 23rd February.
This will be in conjunction with our Junior Development Program on that night, between 5 and 6pm.
We encourage you to come along with your kids for a sausage.
Registering is important – it allows us to plan our teams; to make sure our parent contact details are correct; and gives you an opportunity to share any health issues that may affect your childrens’ hockey.
We will having a stick swap on the night, with sticks that have been donated by some of our bigger kids. We would appreciate any extra donations if you have older sticks at home you no longer need.
We will also be offering new uniform for sale on the night, and are planning a second hand uniform sale. You’re welcome to bring clean second hand uniform for sale on the night. (Please have this in a bag with your name, size and amount wanted for item)

All players are required to register with Hockey Tasmania. This is $50 for Juniors.
This covers the cost of insurance for your children, as well as Hockey Australia and Tasmania levies.
There will also be an invoice sent by Canterbury.
Canterbury is trying to keep our costs per game similar to 2016; but as there will be three more games in the season, there will be a proportional increase in fees to cover these extra costs.
Juniors who play for a Senior team will be charged Senior fees. These Juniors will be welcome to attend all the appropriate Senior training sessions, as well as their own Junior trainings.
Canterbury offers a discount for early payment of fees, and will also be offering payment plans in 2017. This will allow the cost to be spread into four equal monthly payments.
Hockey Tasmania registration
Hockey Tasmania sent an email last week inviting everyone to register for 2017.
However, if you didn’t receive this email, you can follow the link on the Hockey Tasmania homepage.
Hockey Tasmania registration must be paid before your children are allowed on the turf for games.
Parent Gate Passes
There has been an increase in the cost of Gate entry for parents to $5 a person.
As an alternative, Hockey Tasmania offer a Non-Playing Registration that provides a Gate Pass for $65. Allowing entry to all games, senior or junior.
There is excellent value, and allows you to forget your wallet…but not your card.
You can access this using the Registration Portal on the Hockey Tasmania website.
Congratulations to our State Representatives:-
We are proud of the following players who have been selected to represent Tasmania in Hockey.
Vincent Harman and Tom Rasmussen have been selected in the Under 15 boys State Team, and Anika de Kramer has been selected in the Under 15 girls team.
Sam McCulloch and Benjamin East will be playing in the Under 18 State team during the National Under 18 Championships in Hobart in the Easter holidays.
Please consider coming along to watch these talented boys in action.
