Welcome back to Canterbury for Junior Hockey in 2018. We’ve been busy behind the scenes planning for the upcoming season, and we hope to see you soon in your red and blue!
There have been some changes this year to the Juniors.
U8s and U10s have been replaced by Stick 2 Hockey. Which has 3 branches
• Mini 5s for 6-8 yr olds played on 1/8th turf
• Super 6s for 8-10 yr olds played on 1/4 turf
• Hockey 7s for 10yrs + play on half field
Our Stick2Hockey program focuses on foundation skill development in a fun-filled environment.
The Stick2Hockey roster runs every school term for 5 weeks.
We offer training sessions Wednesdays 5pm to 6pm and games are on a Saturday afternoon.

Term 3 and 4 will be played on Saturday afternoons (more details will be provided at a later date)
Term 3 to 4 games between 1:30pm and 4pm
There is an annual Hockey Tasmania registration cost of $30 and club fees which will be invoiced at the end of each term will be determined shortly but are expected to be between $30-$40 per term.
Hockey Tasmania registration
This registration is required online with Hockey Tasmania. The registration covers off on the cost involved in the administration of hockey including insurance, Hockey Australia and Hockey Tasmania Levies.
We would really like people to get in & register or re-register NOW with Hockey Tasmania! It is a requirement to register online prior to playing games. If matches are played with unregistered players, it will cause the match to be forfeited and any points from the match will be lost. Registering now also assists the club with knowing playing numbers for each of the teams. Please help us out & register NOW.
Details on how to register with Hockey Tasmania are available, please click here.
Registering is important.
• It allows us to plan our teams
• to make sure our parent contact details are correct
• and gives you an opportunity to share any health issues that may affect your children’s hockey.
To register, please click here to download the registration form, and fill in and bring it to the Registration night on Tuesday 13th March or send it back to Kirsty Palmer email@example.com once finished.
Canterbury are proud to be able to offer training to our Stick 2 Hockey members.
Training for Terms 2-4 will be on Tuesday night between 5pm-6pm for the weeks of the roster. ie; starting the Tuesday night before the first game.
Kids will need their mouth guards, gear and drink bottle; and their uniform.
There has been a change to the minimum age that a child can join the competition.
This has come from Hockey Tasmania, and is due to safety concerns.
Children may join the competitions when they turn six.
The club is happy to have these children join us for training, or at our Junior Development Program while they wait for their birthdays.
Bring a Friend
Friends make hockey even more fun 🙂
Canterbury is happy to welcome new kids to our Junior Development Program, and for the upcoming season.
Please let us know about your plans for playing in the Term 1 roster.
Karen Brook and Ella Harman.
