CANTERBURY HOCKEY CLUB –UMPIRING
POLICY Officials are an important part of playing hockey
and the Canterbury Hockey Club has weekly obligations to provide
Umpires, Match Managers and Kiosk personnel for the Southern
competition.
The CHC expects all Senior men and women players
and junior players who play in senior grades to be available to
undertake the above duties as part of their membership. The
allocation of a duty will occur on a weekly basis by the Club Umpire
Coordinators (Men’s and Women’s). Each week the Club Umpire
Coordinators submit the list of players to undertake the duties
assigned to the Club for that week.
Hockey South publishes
the umpiring roster (including Match Managers and Kiosk personnel)
on their web site. http://www.sportingpulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?assoc=2595&pID=4and
follow the link on the top left to ‘Upcoming games and
officials”.
It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
to find a reliable replacement umpire / match manager / kiosk worker
if you are unable to complete a duty. If you arrange a swap
you MUST email the Hockey South Competitions (helen@hockeytas.com.au )
before the game otherwise the named person will be stood down if
there is a no show. Hockey Tasmania will apply a $25 fine and one
week suspension for failing to umpire. A second offence will
result in a $40 fine and two week suspension. The Club is required
to impose these sanctions. The Club will pass these fines back
the respective player with an administration fee of $5. If you
are unable to undertake the duty, it is better that you organise a
hired umpire and save yourself the suspension.
