Women's Umpiring The 2009 Women's Umpiring Coordinator is Jennifer Beith.   Jennifer's role is to appoint Canterbury players to umpire games appointed to the club by Hockey South.  Jennifer DOES NOT find replacement umpires if you can not officiate your appointed game.  If you need someone to fill in for you, the links below will give you umpires for hire.   You must let Jennifer know if you are away or unavailable to umpire at any time throughout the season. If there are any times you absolutely can not umpire please contact Jennifer to explain the circumstances.  Jennifer's contact details are - jennifer.beith@dva.gov.au or 6221 6611 (work).  Better still, let Jennifer know that you love umpiring and tell her the times you are available.
Hockey South - Umpiring Policy Hockey South publishes the umpiring roster on their web site.  Click here to view.  It is important to note that players should refer to The Mercury newspaper for the umpiring roster.  In handing out fines for not umpiring, Hockey South refer to the newspaper rather than the web site.   Hockey South will apply a $25 fine and one week suspension for failing to umpire.  A second offence will result in a $40 fine and two week suspension.  Better that you organise a hired umpire (see below) and save yourself the suspension.   If you wish to appeal a Hockey South penalty, please send an email to the Canterbury secretary.   It is your responsibility to find a reliable replacement umpire if you are unable to complete an umpiring duty.   All Canterbury players are encouraged to pay attention to the umpiring rosters in order to avoid the impact to your wallet and your team through fines and stand-downs.  Umpires for hire Please send an email to the Canterbury secretary if you would like to volunteer as an umpire for hire.  You contact details will be published here. Standard rates are $25 per game with an extra $5 for early or later games although you will need to confirm rates with the fill-in umpire.
