Canterbury's state and national level representatives The Canterbury Hockey Club makes every effort to support the highest level of success for all players.  Currently playing at the highest level - national representation - is David Guest who is a Canterbury player when he is back in the state.  David Guest (born August 22, 1981 in Burnie) made his international senior debut for the national team in 2005 at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was a member of The Kookaburras team that won the gold medal at the 2005 Champions Trophy.  In 2008 David won an Olympic bronze medal as a member of the Kookaburras team. Obviously his commitments to the Kookaburras keep him busy interstate and overseas so his Canterbury opportunities are few.  Regardless, David's achievements are a great example of how club level hockey can provide a solid stepping stone to playing top level hockey.
