The club would like to announce the appointment of a new Premier Women’s coach for season 2017. Hoping he can carry on the great work from this season by Marcus Richardson, we would like to congratulate Dan Mills on his appointment. Most of you would have met Dan this year. He arrived from England this year, played Premier League and coached 1st grade men to finals. In Dan’s English career he played National League and representative hockey for many years. More recently he player-coached Wakefield in National Conference North. His successful coaching record also includes a range of junior teams and features 5 national finalists and 7 Northern finalists, 3 of which were crowned champions. Dan has a masters degree in Biomechanics in Hockey Coaching, a BSc. in sports science. He has also completed UKSCA accreditation in Olympic Lifting and Plyometric training and has previously worked with a variety of elite athletes on their fitness and conditioning.
When asked about his appointment Dan said,
“I was thrilled when the club asked me if I’d be interested in taking on the role. Everyone at Canterbury has welcomed me in to the club and made me feel at home. I jumped at the opportunity to work with the girls. They performed really well this year and were so unlucky to lose the semi final the way they did. Marcus has built some great foundations for me to build on next year and the squad has a great blend of exciting young players and quality Premier League players. I can’t wait to work with the group and believe we can be really successful next year.”
